Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - KM 82 - Wayllabamba - Yuncachimpa

At 5:30 in the morning, a tourist bus will take us from Cusco (3350 m/10990 f) to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will stop for a short break in Ollantaytambo and have the choice to eat breakfast before continuing on to our starting point, KM 82. KM 82 marks the Inca Trail's official start. The rest of the group will be introduced here, and the registration procedures will be completed. We will begin the famed Inca Trail after crossing the Rio Urubamba (2200 m).

The first day's trail is simple to navigate and serves as an excellent warm-up for the coming days. We'll eat lunch on a quiet river bank in Miskay while learning more about the Llactapata ancient site. Then, we'll carry on hiking to Wayllabamba (3100 m/10170 ft) and then climb to Yuncachimpa (3300 m/10826 ft), where we'll set up camp for the night. We get a fantastic view of the enigmatic Nevado de Verónica from here.
Moderate level of difficulty
Time spent hiking: 6-7 hours
around 11 kilometers in total.

Day 2: Yuncachimpa - Llulluchapampa - Warmihuañusca pass - Pacaymayu - Runkurakay pass - Chaquicocha

On the second day, everyone is encouraged to hike at their own pace because it is "Free-Hike-Day." You will undoubtedly run into each other during short breaks or when climbing stairs. The trail initially passes through the Valley of Llulluchapampa (3850 m/12631 ft) in the early morning.

Enjoy the humid woodland and the sounds of the water during the first 3 km of steps. Follow the path from Llulluchapampa for around two to three hours until you reach the Warmihuañusca (Dead Woman Pass), which is the highest point of this route (4200 m/113780 f). The Inca Trail's climb is regarded as its most challenging section.

Following a brief rest at the summit, you continue your journey down with a lengthy, steep descent to the river Pacaymayu (Sunrise River) in the direction of the Runkurakay pass (3050 m/10007 ft), where you will eventually arrive at our camp site, Chaquicocha, at 3650 m/11975 ft. After a long day, you may unwind here and take in the breathtaking view of the mountains.
Strenuous difficulty level
8 to 9 hours for the hike
Approximately 15 kilometers in total.

Day 3: Chaquicocha - Phuyupatamarca – Wiñayhuayna

The third day is the most stunning; when you go to the Wiaywayna tropical forest, you'll notice changes in the ecosystems. At the summit of the second pass (3950 m/12960 ft), we will pass by two tiny lakes. Before reaching the third pass, which offers a great perspective of the Urubamba Valley (3700 m/12140 ft), there is a mild ascent through spectacular cloud woods and a little Inca tunnel.

The closest town is Phuyupatamarca, sometimes known as "Town Above the Clouds" (3600 m/11811 ft). There is a location that has been well-preserved and contains a number of Inca baths, which are evidence of the superiority of Inca engineering.
Before viewing the remains of Wiaywayna (Forever Young) (2650 m/8694 ft), we travel via another Inca tunnel. Until you get at a red-roofed white building, our final camping spot, and also a location with hot water (S5) and bottled beverages, the Inca stairs transform into a zigzag path.
Normal level of difficulty
5 to 6 hours for the hike
Approximately 10 kilometers in total.

Day 4: Wiñayhuayna - Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will leave for the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) after breakfast at 4:30 a.m. with our flashlights in hand in order to see the sunrise above Machu Picchu. Nearly an hour will pass during the final triumphal descent before arriving at Machu Picchu's citadel (2400 m/7874 ft) at around 8 a.m.

Its spiritual fascination can be appreciated during a two-hour guided tour that explains the significance and historical purposes of the many structures. A bus will be waiting to transport you to Aguas Calientes from Machu Picchu. Here, you can relax in the hot springs of the community (S10). In the late afternoon, we'll depart from Aguas Calientes.

Great experience. I loved the huge stones in Sacsayhuaman, and the mixed religions and tales the guide shared.
