Description

08.30 am or 01.30 pm. Departing in the morning or in the afternoon this tour will take you to the highlights of Lima city. Explore the capital city of Peru, "City of the Kings". Admire the colonial buildings in the colonial center. We will show you the palaces and castles the city hides, the San Francisco Monastery, and the impressive catacombs. The historical center is considered a World Heritage Site protected by UNESCO because of all the colonial buildings. Lima also stands as one of the oldest capitals in South America, as it was founded by the Spaniards in 1535 and became the most important city for the Spanish Viceroyalty in the whole continent. We will also sightsee the Main Square, the Archbishop’s Palace, the City Hall of Lima, the Cathedral, and San Martin Square.

In private tours, you will also visit Museo Larco, the best museum in Lima, to see representative artifacts of the cultures that thrived in Peru until the Inca Empire. You will discover amazing pre-Columbian art and your guide will explain the different time periods on which each culture grew. The largest collection of jewelry worn by numerous notable rulers of pre-Columbian Peru is on display in the Gold and Silver Gallery. It consists of a variety of finely crafted, semi-precious stone-adorned crowns, earrings, nose ornaments, clothing, masks, and vases made of gold.

Great experience. I loved the huge stones in Sacsayhuaman, and the mixed religions and tales the guide shared.
